Welcome to Unit 4!
This unit takes you back to the Underground Railroad. Because slaves had to live in terrible conditions, some of them tried to escape, hoping to find their freedom elsewhere. The Underground Railroad was one of the ways slaves used to try to escape. Harriet Tubman is one of the most famous Underground Railroad conductors of that time. You will learn more about her in assignment 4.1. Frederick Douglass was also a well-known abolitionist. You will learn more about him in assignment 4.3 since you are going to read the first six chapters of his bibliogrpahy. Important: Make sure you've already worked on assignment 4.1 before you come to class and that you have read the first six chapters of the bibliography "Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass" Assignments 4.2 & 4.3 have to be done in your study group in class.
